Our Philosophy

+Research Based, Non-Stagnant Education

A SAGA education is one that is constantly evolving and shifting based on research in the education industry. According to Statista, global research and development (R&D) spending totaled $2.3 trillion US dollars in 2021. Companies in other industries (software, Energy, Hardware, etc.) use R&D to understand the market and their customers’ needs, ensuring the company is developing and improving the products and services offered to customers.

At SAGA, we believe the Educational Services industry is no different. How students learn and how educators teach are constantly shifting to provide our students an educational approach that meets their needs.

+ Flexible Seating, Movement, & Workspaces

Providing our students with seating flexibility and the freedom to move is a feature we are most proud of at SAGA. Every student at SAGA also has a dedicated workspace to call their own, as research shows both seating flexibility and seating ownership is important for student success.

  • movement and breaks

  • exercise balls

  • bean bags

  • airforts

  • stools

  • wobble chairs

  • bungee chairs

  • lap desks

  • traditional desks

If your child needs to pace while working out a tough problem, they can

If they need to sit on a exercise ball, they can

If they need to twirl for a minute, they can

If they need to sit at their workspace silently, they can

Our Educators & Subject-Matter Experts

Just like not every school is a match for every child, not every school is a match for every educator. SAGA’s educators excel in learner-centered teaching and are eager to step out of the traditional frameworks of teaching.

We hire only those who see teaching not just as a vocation, but as a passion. Our educators understand the alarming state of the American education system. Our educators are dedicated to disrupting and saving what is left of a very broken system.

SAGA also incorporates subject-matter experts (SMEs) into students’ learning. For example, Dr. Dwella Nelson, Assistant Professor at The John Hopkins University School of Medicine led an on-site program to teach students about diversity, through her expertise in genetics (Punnet squares, pedigrees, etc.).

+ 8:1 Ratio

SAGA is entering the ‘23/’24 academic year with a ratio of 5:1. Our ratio will not exceed 8:1.

A small ratio ensures provides teachers with the energy and time to truly learn what motivates, drives, and inspires each and every child, required to meet our goals outlined on the ‘Vision & Mission’ page.

According to USAfacts.org, the private school student-to-teacher ratio in the US in 2022 was 12:1, a decrease from 13:1 in 2021.

+ Individualized Learning Plans

Individualized Learning Plans (ILP) are developed and presented to parents within the first 4 weeks of each school year. Parent input and collaboration is vital to the development and implementation of ILPs. ILPs include, but are not limited, to:

  • benchmark assessments

  • strengths and areas to improve

  • official testing (IQ & academic achievement)

  • interest areas

  • homework requests

  • curriculum plans

All parties, including the child, the teacher, and the parents understand what is both expected and achievable for their child for each academic year.

but you need to embrace change

if the alternative is disaster.”

Our Students

Your child will be surrounded by like-minded peers who understand their witty sense of humor, passionate interests, and deep sense of empathy.

Students at SAGA benefit from the following social opportunities:

  • Interactions with like-minded peers of various ages

  • Individualized coaching from teachers during social interactions, providing student support during natural interactions vs scripted group sessions

  • Interest-based play with peers who ‘get it’ and share a love for topics that may be unusual for a child their age (e.g., black holes, languages, architecture, light/sound, mycology, physics, cartography, and more)

Students are in their element at SAGA, able to explore and learn about topics they love with peers who accept them for who they are, not who society wants them to be.
