Born and raised in Northwest Ohio, with a heart for change, I loaded up my car & made a solitary move to North Carolina in 2004. Since moving here, I took my love of art and translated that into my business adventures today. Currently, I am the owner of a freelance design company, a professional photographer & Instructor of Art. In addition to professional success, I have a wonderfully supportive husband of 10 years and a beautiful, spirited daughter. We created our own tiny farm in Apex complete with a small variety of animals.
Art has always been a part of my identity & has offered up life long experience & knowledge! Whether simple paintings to complex carpentry jobs, I find myself eager to try anything that allows me artistic expression and just….CREATE.
I’m extremely excited and beyond thankful for the opportunity to share my knowledge & love of art with your children. Being able to work alongside your excited kids brings a deeper joy to my artistic experience! I’m elated for you to see your child’s love of art blossom along with the projects they create! Thank you for having me Step Ahead Academy!
Born and raised in California, Melissa’s parents moved her and her family to North Carolina in 2003. Spending the second part of my life in North Carolina has been the best experience that I could have ever imagined.
Since arriving in North Carolina, I have met and married my husband and high school sweetheart of 9 years, received my Bachelors Degree in Psychology with a K-6 Licensure from Meredith College, received my Masters Degree in Educational Administration and Leadership from George Washington University, and am currently expecting my first child in August of 2018.
I love working with children and have experience working with grades 1-6, through various teaching and tutoring experiences. I look forward to working with you and your children this year at Step Ahead Gifted Academy.
